The major Las Vegas concert venues are the Sphere (20,000 capacity, immersive 16K screen), the Colosseum at Caesars Palace (4,296 seats, the original residency theater), Dolby Live at Park MGM (5,200 seats, formerly Park Theater), Resorts World Theatre (5,000 seats, opened 2021), Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood (7,000 seats, formerly Zappos Theater), T-Mobile Arena (20,000+ for concerts, home of the Vegas Golden Knights), MGM Grand Garden Arena (17,000, the historic boxing venue), and Allegiant Stadium (72,000 for concerts, home of the Las Vegas Raiders).

A Vegas residency is a multi-night engagement (typically 4-30+ shows) at a single venue by an artist who plays exclusively there for the run. Residencies happen primarily at the purpose-built theaters: the Colosseum, Dolby Live, Resorts World Theatre, and Bakkt Theater. The Sphere also runs residencies but at a different scale and price point. Traditional one-night concert tours stop at the arenas (T-Mobile, MGM Grand Garden) and at Allegiant Stadium for stadium-tour artists.

The Sphere is the world's largest spherical structure ($2.3 billion to build) and uses a 160,000 sq ft 16K wraparound interior LED screen, 167,000 speaker drivers, and 10,000 haptic seats that physically vibrate with the audio. No other venue in Vegas — or arguably the world — offers the same immersive experience. The Sphere only runs multi-night residencies (not single-night tour stops), and ticket prices are among the highest in Vegas.

It depends on what you want. If you can get tickets to a Sphere residency for an artist you love, that's a once-in-a-lifetime experience. If Sphere prices are out of reach, the Postcard from Earth or Wizard of Oz immersive films at Sphere are the affordable way to experience the venue. For a traditional Vegas residency, the Colosseum at Caesars Palace is the historic original. For an arena concert with the city's best location, T-Mobile Arena is walkable from Park MGM, NYNY, MGM Grand, and Aria.

Residencies at the Colosseum, Dolby Live, Resorts World Theatre, and Bakkt Theater are announced months in advance. T-Mobile Arena and Allegiant Stadium tour stops are announced as artists route their tours through Vegas. Sort of. Allegiant Stadium sits just west of the Strip near Mandalay Bay, with a pedestrian bridge that connects to Mandalay Bay on game days. From most other Strip hotels, rideshare or shuttle is the standard approach — and game day rideshare surge pricing is significant. Plan to leave 60+ minutes before kickoff or the start of a major concert.

Yes — Bakkt Theater is the same venue that was previously known as Zappos Theater. It was renamed in March 2023 after Caesars Entertainment signed a naming rights deal with cryptocurrency company Bakkt Holdings. The 7,000-seat round showroom inside Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino is unchanged. Many older Vegas guides still reference it as Zappos Theater.
